Motrin Moms Commercial Controversy
This ad was perceived as being a very offensive ad campaign by a lot mothers all over the country. After the Motrin Moms commercial was released, complaints from angry mothers started pouring in about how disrespectful and inappropriate the ad was and that drew experts to concentrate on the ad’s inaccuracies. In the ad, it made mention that wearing your baby is in fashion and joked about when carrying babies, it caused painful risks to the front and side. The information that was said was inaccurate information regarding the risks associated with baby carriers but it also labeled mothers of infants as being “tired and crazy” while playing a cuckoo clock noise.
This lead the company to remove the ad from their website and from all circulation. Mothers claimed the ad offers an offensive image of a mother. They said the ad painted a picture of a tired, overworked, unloving mothers who only worried about her own personal physical state of being.
Vice President of Marketing for McNeil Consumer Healthcare, Kathy Widmer, sent out an apology stating that the advertisement was meant to engender sympathy and appreciation for all that parents do for their kids, but did so through an attempt at humor that missed the mark and that many moms found offensive. She went on to say that we the company, certainly didn’t mean to offend moms through our advertising. On behalf of McNeil, she was sorry that they found the advertisement insulting and that it has brought home the importance of taking a broader look at what we say and how it may be interpreted.
If i were the PR person, I think i would've went about it the same way that Kathy Widmer did. Her apology seemed sincere and she went about it the right way by removing it from all media in order to satisfy the angry and offended mothers.

Direct Mail That I Received Today
Today i checked my mailbox and noticed that i had a envelope that said Best Buy reward zone on it. I usually don't pay this kind of mail any attention because a lot of the time i get coupons from places that i don't even shop at but today for this assignment i decided to open up the envelope and discovered that i got a Best Buy reward certificate for $5. I completely forgot that i had signed up to be a member of the reward zone program. I haven't shopped at Best Buy since i think February of this year. But anyway, this was funny to me because we were just discussing this program in class today.
The letter that came with the reward certificate said I received the $5 simply for being a reward zone program member and shopping at Best Buy. I guess it could be somewhat effective because it is free money even tho its not a lot. Maybe i can find something that is less than $5 that i can purchase there but knowing Best Buy prices, that's probably highly unlikely. I could see myself shopping there in the near future though especially if they have something that Walmart may be out of at the moment, which is why i was shopping at Best Buy in the first place.

Online coupons....
I searched through a lot of websites looking for online coupons that didn't require signing up for anything or providing your e-mail. I was looking for a website that would take you right to the coupons and be able to print them out instantly. I think i may have found a site that comes fairly close to what i was looking for, the website is http://www.wow-coupons.com/
All you have to do is click on "Enter USA Wow-Coupons" and it takes you to a page where you can choose printable coupons for retail, restaurants, travel, grocery, and rebates. Each one you click on gives you a list of links where it may take you right to the coupon, it just depends on the link. Let me know what you think of it!

Point of purchase displays
The store i chose was Walgreen's.

These comfortable shoes were displayed at the end of one aisle in Walgreens. They stood out because of the pink and baby blue colors and plus they are very popular these days, everyone is wearing them from toddlers to grandparents.

This POP display was effective because the 7Up and Dr Pepper bottles were arranged neatly and in order. You have easy access to them as your shopping around the store.

Again you see everything is in order according to size and color. They're on display in the middle of the produce section. The milk looks fresh and cold, very effective.
